Our Profile

Produce. Provide. Protect.

‘uloolaa’ is a boutique kids’ brand built by stay-at-home moms.

Catering to the colourful spectrum of kids’ needs ‘uloolaa’ features one-of-a-kind clothes & accessories made at the homes of creative ladies who are unable to find corporate employment due to their personal commitments, may it be taking care of their infant/toddler, their elderly parents or their gravely ill spouse.

Adding to the product range, uloolaa aims not only to open a market of boutique fashion to the kids of Sri Lanka but also to educate them and inspire them to create. That is why uloolaa has a book store, featuring stories & activity books authored and illustrated, again, by stay-at-home moms.

The collective community of skilled ladies who produce for ‘uloolaa’ are referred to as the ‘uloolaa circle’. The unique production process in which these ladies are involved help create an eco-system that not only provides for a healthy extra income but also allows the opportunity for these ladies to improve and master their skills through learning and sharing that takes place within the group. The ladies are also paid above industry-standard-rates so that they are able to focus less on the quantity and more on the quality of the product.

An uloolaa product is often designed to give maximum value for money, with a special focus on the durable use of the product. Most designs from the uloolaa wardrobe will fit at least two consecutive sizes. E.g. A dress for the size 3+ can be worn as top for the 5+ size. And this “grow-with-me” feature allows for the child to keep wearing their favourite uloolaa dress for longer and keep the mom from having to redo the child’s wardrobe every 12 months or so. Similarly most uloolaa pants come with hems that allow to adjust the height as the child grows taller, or simply to achieve a different look.
The fabric and material used for each of the products are hand-picked and purchased in small quantities in order to maintain the uniqueness of each of the items. Because;

“An ‘uloolaa’ product is one of a kind: In the whole wide world only one you will find…”

The fabric is always chosen to assure comfort and the sewing is done in such a way to reduce friction with the child’s tender skin, especially in the inner-wear articles.

The vision is to build a sustainable eco-system of providing flexible job opportunities for skilled women who are unable to enter the corporate work-force; and through them, produce high-quality, eco-friendly, safe and fashion-forward product choices for children. In doing so, a special focus is placed on the efficient use of raw material that is 100% recyclable and is mostly sourced from local vendors.
